A shower for Jessie!

A couple weeks ago, a friend and I gave Jessie a Christmas themed bridal shower. Everyone was asked to bring an ornament for Matt and Jessie's first Christmas tree and a giftcard of some sort to put under it! It was loads of fun and they got lots of different ornaments and giftcards! Their first tree will look alot better than Joe's and mine did!

All the presents and little tree we also gave them. The shower was at the Hargrove's house. We had lunch, played games and then watched Jessie open all the presents!

Sisters and daughter! We played a game with clothespins...you could not mention the groom's name or someone could take your clothespin if you did...notice mine is already gone!

Niki, Mom-mom, Lisa and Lois. Mom-mom lost her clothespin right away, too!

Jessie and her mom, Nancy.

Another silly game we played...everyone was given a piece of tissue paper and was to work together to make a wedding dress for Jessie. Needless to say...there were not any fashion designers in the group! A good time was had by all! I can't believe that the wedding is in five weeks. Yikes...need to get going!

Anniversary celebration #2

My best friend Lisa and her husband Rich took Joe and I out to dinner last night to celebrate our anniversary. It is a tradition that we share. We take them out in April to celebrate their anniversary and then they take us out in August. It is great to spend time with friends!

Joe and Rich looking ever so dashing! We had dinner at CDB's Southside in Tampa and the dinner was delicious! Thanks Lisa and Rich!

Lisa and I have been friends for 39 years...since we were 12! It is always so much fun to get together with her. Wish we could do it more often!

Time to get back to blogging!

I have been away too long and am going to start making regular posts. I still need to learn how to get my photos from the camera to the computer! I want to be able to post pictures, too, because I am not a woman of many words! (Some would agrue that!) I also started a Facebook page...I am excited about that. Hope that I can find some old high school and college buddies. Joe and I celebrated our 28th anniversary on Saturday. We had planned on staying out on St Pete Beach at the Sirata but Tropical Storm Fay changed our plans. It was rainy all weekend so we decided to postpone it. So, Joe took me to the Melting Pot on Saturday night and it was a fun evening. He also took me to see the American Idol concert in Tampa on Thursday night. I watched it for the first time this past season and loved all the singers in the top 1o. It was a great show. I will add some photos once Kate gets home and can show me how to do it! :)

Tobi and Tilly getting bigger!

Tobi in her favorite spot. She is about a year old here. She loves the kitty condo!

Tilly loves to copy Tobi! She is about 6 months old here. They love looking out the window at all the birds and squirrels. Lizards are their favorite, though! I will take a picture of the two of them soon...Tilly is bigger than Tobi now.

Baby Tilly and Tobi

This is Tilly when we first got her, May 2007. The little girl across the street brought her over to see if we wanted another kitten because her mom would not let her keep her. One look at that little ball of fluff...we were hooked! We needed a playmate for Tobi anyway!

This is Tobi before we got her, in November 2006. She was about 2 weeks old when a co-worker took these pitures and brought them into work. I took one look at this one and said, "I want her!".

Oh...so tiny! She is not so tiny anymore! She is still a little cat compared to some I have had but she is getting to be quite round! :)

Tobi's brothers and sisters. I don't know why I didn't take two! They are all so cute...

Proud Moment

I thought I would post a few things about myself. This is one of my proudest moments...I actually finished a marathon! My very best friend in the whole world, Lisa, and I did the Disney marathon together in January 2007. I look like I am in pain...believe me, I was! It took me six hours and 44 minutes but I did it! I used Jeff Galloways run/walk intervals and did a 4 minute run/ 2 minute walk until mile 18 and then I died! The last eight miles was alot more walking! Lisa was the best friend ever and stayed with me the whole way and kept me going! I have always wanted to do a marathon (why, I don't quite know) and since I turned 50 a few weeks before, I thought I needed to get it done since I wasn't getting any younger!

My First Blog

Now that I am into the menopause phase of my life and can not sleep anymore, I thought that maybe blogging would give me something to do during these long sleepless nights. I am 51 years old and have been married to my husband Joe for almost 28 "blissful" years. We have two children, Matt who is 24 and Kate who is 19. We also have three furry children, kitties Tessie, Tobi and Tilly. We are sort of empty nesters...Kate lives at home but is at school or work most of the time so we really don't see her much. If you are wondering why my blog is named Cillian Luck, it is because our family motto has been, "If it wasn't for bad luck, we would have no luck at all!" I guess in the coming blogs, I can expand on that!

I have a fairly large family, two sisters and a brother. My oldest sister has three girls and ten grandchildren, my other sister has two grown children and my brother has three. My mom and dad live in the same town as me, which is so nice. My husband has one sister who lives close by. His parents are both deceased. I guess you are wondering about the ten grandchildren that my sister has! My oldest niece Kristen, has 8 children with the 9th on the way! She and Brian are amazing parents and their children are all beautiful and well behaved. My other niece Caroline and her husband Mark have an adorable little boy and the third niece from my oldest sister, Melanie and her husband Adam, have a cute little boy Isiah and one due any time now! (So, my sister will have two more grandchildren by the end of this year! Wow!) I have two other married nieces, my other sister's daughter Wendy is married to Jim and my brother's daughter Laura is married to Tim. That leaves my children, my sister's son Jimmy and my brothers son Graham and daughter Mary Paige who are all single! Not for long, though. My son Matt is the next cousin to get married! He is getting married on December 13 to a wonderful girl named Jessie!

Family has always been important to me and I have tried to keep in touch with my brother and sisters. I wanted my children to know their cousins. We have all lived in different areas of the country, but managed to get together, usually at family gatherings for special occasions. I am hoping that Matt's wedding will be the next big family get together! Everything is just so much more special when family is there. My children love their cousins and always are excited to see them. It is tough, though, because we are all so busy and live so far apart! (So if any of you are reading this, know that I love you and think of you often!)

I think that this will do it for my first post. I am going to figure out how to add photos, too! That should be a challenge for me...it took me long enough to get signed in to blogger! Until later. I think I am actually getting tired. I have to be at work in the morning. It is the first of the month...closing time for us accounting people! Good night!
